However, there are certain tactics used by these journalists no matter how respectful they claim to be, to lure the audience and gain their attention. Exaggerations, usage of shocking words, and sometimes blatant lies are used as methods of sensationalism used by these anchors every once in a while. Here are certain ways these news channels and anchors attract readers and viewers by using sensationalism.

Clickbait Headlines: Journalists may use sensational headlines to grab the attention of readers and encourage them to click on the article. These headlines often exaggerate or misrepresent the content of the article, leading to a sense of disappointment or betrayal among readers.
Focusing on the Negative: Journalists may focus on the negative aspects of a story instead of reporting on the whole picture. This can lead to sensationalism, as the negative aspects are often more dramatic and attention-grabbing than the positive ones.

Emphasis on emotions: Journalists may use emotional language to create a sense of drama and urgency around a story. This can lead to sensationalism as it can manipulate readers’ emotions and biases.
Overreliance on anonymous sources: Journalists may use anonymous sources to create a sense of mystery and intrigue around a story. However, this can lead to sensationalism as the sources may not be credible or may have their own agenda.

Lack of Context: Journalists may fail to provide adequate context around a story, leading to sensationalism. This can happen when a story is presented without the necessary background information or when important details are left out.
