Ambassador Khalil Hashmi embarked on a one-day tour to Shouguang county, a renowned hub for vegetable production in China’s Shandong province. Invited by the Shouguang government, Ambassador Hashmi graced the opening ceremony of the 25th China (Shouguang) International Vegetable Science and Technology Expo with his presence.

In his address at the Expo, Ambassador Hashmi lauded the event’s role in fostering global agricultural innovation and collaboration. He specifically commended Shouguang’s leadership in vegetable production, recognizing its international reputation as an excellence center in facility vegetables.

Highlighting the enduring partnership between China and Pakistan, especially in agriculture, Ambassador Hashmi emphasized its significance as a pillar of bilateral relations. He showcased Pakistan’s agricultural landscape, stressing its substantial contributions to GDP and employment, and reiterated the country’s commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity through collaboration with Chinese partners.

Furthermore, Ambassador Hashmi outlined favorable policies and frameworks for collaboration, underscoring the potential for mutually beneficial partnerships and continued growth in agricultural trade and technology.

Notably, he announced the upcoming Food and Agri Expo in August 2024, where China would be honored, as a platform for deeper collaboration and exchanges in the agricultural sector. Ambassador Hashmi extended a warm invitation to stakeholders, experts, businessmen, and investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s agriculture sector.

During his visit, Ambassador Hashmi engaged in discussions with municipal leadership to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and Shouguang. The discussions centered on investments, joint ventures, and institutional mechanisms to further strengthen bilateral ties in the agricultural domain.
