Presidential Reference for Interpretation of Article 63A filed in the Supreme Court
ISLAMABAD (IPak Tv News): A presidential reference has been filed in the Supreme Court against horse-trading and for interpretation of Article 63A. Attorney General Khalid Javed said that he would follow the reference himself.
In the Presidential Reference filed, the Supreme Court has been asked to explain 4 questions.
- The first question is which interpretation of Article 63A is acceptable? Can voting against party policy be stopped? If a member Votes against party policy will not it be counted, whoever does so will that member be disqualified for life?
- The second question is whether the votes of the deviant members will be counted or not counted.
- The third question is that a member who votes against party policy will not be honest and trustworthy. Will such a member be disqualified for life?
- The final question is what further steps can be taken to prevent floor crossings or horse-trading? Article 63A does not specify the period of ineligibility.
Attorney General Khalid Javed reached the Supreme Court to file a presidential reference.
Earlier, President Dr. Arif Alvi has filed a presidential reference regarding the interpretation of Article 63A. The Supreme Court will also be requested to hear the reference on a daily basis and pronounce its verdict.
