As hard as it is to say it indeed is the truth. Pakistan is without a doubt a flawed state. Offers by policymakers of misleading guidance flattens its complexity. This breeds certain difficulties in the Country which need to be acknowledged every now and then. The phrase “Janus Faced” (deceitful) best defines the situation in Pakistan. The state and government are responsible for keeping a check on Islamist extremism but are unfortunately also responsible for holding back the country from social and economic stability and development. This obviously is the truth of the Pakistan Army.
The institution is responsible for keeping the country together. However huge budgets drain chunks of money which otherwise would have gone to development. Its consistent involvement with the government has jammed every possibility of a progressive and stable democratic country. apart from the military, there are indeed however certain cataclysmic obstacles in Pakistan which pose a threat to democracy as well as the social and economic welfare of Pakistan. These obstacles have been led by landlords and Urban Bosses. groups with immutable power and procures of immense conservatism. These groups use their power to mould society’s values as they see fit. Moreover, they use their power to gain favours from the bureaucracy. Turning that to their advantage they plunder the state for patronage.
As a result, today. pakistan has become a laughing stock for the World. known to have the lowest revenue collection rates in entire South Asia.
