No one can head and shoulders above India when it comes to throwing tons of propaganda and misinformation and doing it in a highly organized and sophisticated manner. Even though the reporting system has been exposed several times, the Indian media houses continue their disinformation campaigns without interruption. A Brussels-based European Union Disinfolab, an independent non-profit organization focused on tackling sophisticated disinformation, said that the Indian news agency Asian News International (ANI) is continuously non-existent sources and fake reports to target its rivals in Pakistan and China in particular. This is not the first time EU Disinfolab has revealed India’s ugly face. Several years ago, the Disinfolab exposed the Srivastava group and ANI, which had worked in Brussels and Geneva for years to undermine Pakistan and China through fake organizations by producing and amplifying false content. It is just one example of the manipulation and abuse of the international system to achieve sinister plans.
The EU Disinfolab revelation may have surprised many in the world, but not Pakistan. The country was already aware of India’s propaganda campaign and warned the world leaders that India was resorting to smear campaigns against Pakistan. Unfortunately, the world closed its ears towards Pakistan’s voice. Current and past European Union Disinfo lab reports have established Pakistan’s position well. India’s disinformation campaign seeks to mislead the US and EU countries about the freedom struggle in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by associating it with terrorism and debunking Pakistan’s role in the war on terror.
India also belied the world about the human rights situation in Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan’s credentials on juvenility rights. How the Indian authorities misled the world in the Pulwama attack is no longer a secret. It was orchestrated by the Indian authorities themselves to ensure Narendra Modi’s victory in the elections. In such cases, other countries, especially Muslim countries, would have been slammed with sanctions for disrupting the security environment in the region. Yet, it is unfortunate that India enjoys absolute immunity for both the propaganda campaigns and the ongoing genocide against Indian Muslims in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The reality is that India is the biggest terrorist country in the world.
There are statements and reports from US officials admitting that New Indian agencies are carrying out terrorism inside Pakistan. The time has come to rein in the Indian government and hold it accountable for its criminalities before it is too late. Our Ministry of Foreign Affairs should forcefully raise its voice against India’s unethical activities on international forums. Until now, India’s deviant activities and schemes to tarnish Pakistan and isolate it internationally have failed miserably; however, Pakistan must stay vigilant and adopt a more foresighted approach to oppose India’s propaganda and develop a more feasible strategy to counter India’s agenda. India better clean its house from lies and fake news and take care of gross human rights violations, abuse of minority rights and the rise of Hindu radicalism.
