ALLAH ALMIGHTY has made our country so beautiful and resourceful that it seems unfair to the rest of the World. Unfortunately, our leaders are exactly like our people. As prophesied by ALLAH Almighty’s messenger Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H. The leaders represent the people. Lying, cheating and stealing never stopped in our country because our people live by these social inclinations. Since our leaders are the very people who are elected by us, no one is to blame but our people. Having said that, we deserve the downfall that our country is facing right now. Our economic experts often try to convince their listeners by telling how incompetent our leaders are. How inadequately our natural resources have been allocated.

Nations around the World prospered only when people deemed it so. Blaming each other is the easy part. The real prosperity comes in when nations integrity is intact. Bill Gates in known as World’s richest man. A person like him was amazed when he saw a country which recycled its water from the sewers to a level that its drinkable and undeniably enriched with essential elements of water.

Before getting into that our iPak’s team have been watching piles of human fecal matter being thrown into the Ravi River in Lahore. No one seems to care about it not even the people living nearby. As they believe that there is nothing that can be done. How unfortunate nation we are that almost every third person in our population suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and yet there are piles of rubbish everywhere. Things are getting worse day by day.

Bill Gate’s Foundation also known as Gate Foundation has found a best way to not only recycle sewage water but also generate electricity from it. The whole process is concluded in facilities where human waste is burned, water is produced from which electricity is generated. It is part of Gate’s Foundation to improve sanitation in poor countries.

The engineering behind it is quite intriguing and mind blowing. According to a survey conducted by the Gate’s foundation, almost 2 million people use latrine which are not properly drained. In-fact there are even some places where the human fecal matter is defected in the open. Which contaminates the drinking water causing horrifying diseases to children and elders. These diseases take almost 700,000 lives each year.

Poor countries which cannot afford western style washrooms require hefty investments. Which means properly engineered washrooms with innovative infrastructure and treatment plants. Since our country is amongst the very poorest of countries in the World, Gate Foundation’s initiative in Nigeria has been promising and effective, since reinventing the idea of using human waste water has helped safe millions of lives. Regardless the fact that cities where drought has been causing more devastating conditions for the people, reinvention of such innovative idea by Gate’s Foundation has been a beacon of hope for the poorest of countries around the globe.

The process that holds the goal to reinvent the sewage treatment plant is called Omni-Processor. Basically, this project is a safe repository for human waste. Today, in many cities like Lahore, especially in Karachi the truckers take the waste from the sewage canals and dump it in the ocean. either way that waste gets into the water supply. If that waste is dumped in a proper facility where the sewage water can actually be treated. The machine burns the wastes at such high temperature that question of nasty smell is absurd. The machine burns the waste at 1000 degree Celsius. The machine does its job so efficiently that it even meets the standards of emission set by the U.S government, not that anyone would care here in Pakistan but just so you know the ‘Omni processor’ solves the problem. The ingenious use of steam engine generates ample energy to burn the next batch of waste. So basically, the machine powers itself and even generates spare electricity.

In mathematical terms, for instance, a machine can handle waste of 100,000 people which means it can, approximately, handle around 90,000 liters of human fecal wastage of water a day and produce around 270kW of electricity each day. This can be helpful in producing a self-producing industry. Countries like Dakar and Senegal are already concurring new and innovative ideas as to how to make this process more effective and attract more investors and entrepreneurs for such an amazing business model. This process will not only keep human waste out of drinking water but will also be sold in market as a commodity.

This new innovation will undoubtedly comprehend the expression,” One man’s trash can be another man’s treasure”.
